How confident do you feel about your financial acumen?
In a recent survey conducted by FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority), the firm that regulates financial institutions, 64% of people surveyed believed they had a very high level of financial knowledge. What we know however, is that even the most savvy among us, can oftentimes make errors in judgement about our finances. Additionally, we can fall prey to habits that, while not catastrophic, may not be the optimal approach to our finances.
If you do not feel that confident, don't beat yourself up. Many people feel as though they have missing information when it comes to finances and that everyone else is in on the joke (I am looking at you cryptocurrency). Oftentimes, we don’t want to think about what we could be doing to improve our situations or we just don’t know where to find reliable, accurate information. Someone like myself, an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), can help you wade through the murkiness of the financial noise and come out feeling more confident. That said, our financial journeys are not linear and so the challenge is to try to stay on top of anything that has a direct impact on your personal finances.
